My manual for my 1986 maxim x calls for yamalube 20/40.
What I run is DELO 15/40 and change it every thousand miles.
I used to use 10/40 and the clutch seemed not to grab to well, since I changed oil viscosity it grabs.
What do the rest of you use???

I've been running 10w40 and when it get good and hot the clutch seems real testy with sharp engagement. Upon advice on XJ I'm going to try 20w50. No results yet as carb is in pieces.

10W anything is too thin unless it doesn't get over 60* F.

Since 20W40 is hard to find, 20W50 works fine. Avoid automotive oils and synthetics.
