My 92 xj600s petcock went out, Filled up my engine with oil, I fixed the petcock, changed the oil and filter and now when I try to start it It dont turn over, there is a noise from the starter but it isnt enough to turn it over. Is there something else I have to do before it will run again.

Please help!!! I just bought it and have put less than 15 miles on it myself.

also, make sure all the connections are tight, esp. ground, and the positive terminal from battery to solenoid, and from solenoid to starter.

If all that checks out, try jumping the big solenoid leads across with a good size screwdriver, and see if that makes it turn over.

also pull the spark plugs and check for large amounts of fuel first thing, to prevent a hydraulic lock and possible bent rods

Just do the basics. Clean your terminals, check for corrosion, check the water level, make sure it's charged. If you doubt your battery, slap in a new one for around 35 bucks.
