    Hey all,
I am going to be doing my valves/sync tomorrow but I am going to be doing it remote from my shop and toolbox. Can someone just confirm all the tools I should need?

    I am thinking:
    12/13/14/15/17/19mm wrench&sockets
    #2&3 Phillips
    Allen set
    Bucket Tool
    Feelers

I will be in a shop with the shims, YICS tool, and vaccum-mate.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated

    Cheers
    Dave

5mm allen bit for your 3/8" or 1/4" ratchet, with appropriate adapter to use torque wrench on cover bolts; and a LONG 5mm allen key for the inner cover bolts you cannot get to with a socket bit.

And I personally get a LOT of use from my t-handle allen wrenches, all the lettering has worn off my 5mm.

(All the cover bolts, the bucket tool, everything takes a 5mm.)

Other than that you don't need many tools. You need a 19mm open-end to turn the crankshaft (at least I think it's a 19mm for your bike like all the others) plus a 12mm (socket or wrench, no matter) to remove the gas tank retainer bolt (unless yours just has a clip.) You need a big phillips for the timing cover screws and a pair of pliers for the fuel line clips and that's really about it. ***EDIT*** A pair of hemostats and a tiny flat screwdriver for shim plucking, as in my article.

Other tips? BRIGHT lighting, a fresh cup of coffee, soft music and relax. Take notes, write everything down.

I hope you already have a new valve cover gasket and donuts for the cover bolts.

I have the allen socket and wrench in my portable kit
Will have a socket set and an open end 19MM
Petrol tank bolt is hand tight as I have the thing off so much
Have a pick kit for the shim removal
It is a shop, so light is good, and a work day so coffee is already required :p
    Have notepad

I changed the gaskets in the last thousand KM but did not have the space to do the valves so I am not too concerned about it.

    Cheers
    Dave

    number one tool IMO?
a red RAG to stuff in the cam chain gallery so you don't lose a shim or bolt down there. not really a tool for your list, just a tip for the task.
