Are you guys doing RTV on your valve cover gasket? I think by convention a little would go in the corners of the half moon.

Are you guys doing that? More? None?

I put a little bit around the half moon rubber seals and lightly grease the gasket with some silicone grease.

Follow up. This new gasket from Yamaha. These gaps supposed to be here? I don't have old gasket anymore to compare. Not pinched or rolled. Just no rubber there. This gap exists on both sides

I just received a new rubber valve cover gasket from Len at XJ4Ever (great service, by the way) and installed it earlier today. Just used the tacky spray to hold it in place on my 1982 XJ650 RJC Seca. Will let you know how things hold together once I put engine back in frame and fire it up. See attached pic of reassembled engine.

    Regards,
    Andrew

After looking at more reference photos I think gap is normal and that must be blind hole under there

That gap is normal, its a blind hole on the outside and the gasket seals on the inside edge. Nothing to worry about....
