valve cover leaks and bouncing fork

    ive changed a gazillion car valve covers but never a motorcycle engine
    is it the same?
    a buddy of mine said there just o-rings and i dont need and adhesive?
    if so where do i get the 0-rings seals?

    and when im at about 40mph and 80mph my front fork is SUPER bouncy
    its almost un-drivable but i manage to hold it down....my hand hate me since i have to have a death grip on the grips
    is there air or oxygen in the shocks?
    and what pressure are they supposed to be at

    and ive got a dent in my gas tank
    should i try and get a paintless removal place to work it out or just body fill it?
    either way its getting painted the same color as my truck :D
    gotta love that toyota black sand pearl

    and i gotta change the oil
    any suggestions on going about it?
    this is obviously my first bike and i wanna take good care of it since ive already put 400 miles on it in a week haha

    The motorcycle valve cover gasket is a formed rubber gasket that will press into a grove on the cover! You should be able to get the gasket from Yamaha, some online stores, ebay.

    Super bouncy forks could be needing more fork oil. I would drain them and fill with the proper amount of new oil. The Seca's took 309cc ( 10.5 oz ) of 20Wt or equivalent based on my manual.

    If you have air adjustable shocks you will find valve stems near the top of the forks. You don't need much air, standard air pressure is 5.7 psi. The maximum is 36psi and the minimum is zero! They suggest the difference between both tubes should be 1.4 psi or less.

    Hard to tell what to do with a dent in the tank without seeing it! You will have to decide what to do or talk with the paintless guys and see what they say.

    Oil change is pretty straight forward. The drain plug is way down below the oil filter housing. Pretty much have to lay down on the ground to get a good look for it. The filter should be found at a good auto parts store, the fram filter comes with new orings. Watch the removal of the oil filter housing, the head of the bolt can round very easily if someone over tightened it!

    i plan on changing my oil saturday
    do you know what fram filter that would be by chance? or should i just ask for one thatll fit?

    hopefully i can get the valve cover changed in the next week or so


    and my driveshaft is noisey now
    sounds like somethings broken but it still shifts great?
    should i be worried?

    It's a CH6003 fram oil filter.
    The drain plug torques to 31 foot lbs.
    The oil filter bolt torques to 132 inch lbs.
    Could be the u-joint causing the noise??? I would try to feel the u-joint which is behind the rubber boot and see if you can figure out if it's loose or worn out.
    You could also put the bike on the center stand and start it, BE VERY CAREFUL, make sure it's stable, put it in gear and try to locate where the noise is coming from.
