When I placed my valve cover on the motor, it doesn't fit flush at the front. Look at my gallery and you will see two things sticking up. Is that the "front chain guide"?

The chain guide is the long extension that goes down into the engine from the double-humped black thing right at the front of your picture, directly in front of the chain.

I don't see anything wrong with the pic. So, I'd suggest the following: double check the make sure that you have the valve cover facing the right way. Also, check the make sure that any guide pins are not binding anywhere. Do another couple of dry test fits so you can see just what to do once the gasket is in place. You'll have one shot to get it on. Otherwise the gasket will fall, shift, etc.... and you start all over.......again.

Ket us know how things go and if you need more help.
