valve noise question

    hey guys im getting a hissing type of noise from my over heat and a ticking depending ont he idle is the difference in the sound ... idel is ticking, high rpm is the hissing basicly there is so much ticking or noise under the valve it make sort of a hissing, my question is i felt that the adjustment was getting loose causing this issue....but from what i have read the adjustment gets tighter over time, is there something that may get loose that will cause lifter noises or is the adjustment getting tighter causing the prolbem

    Are you sure it's coming from the engine and not the exhaust?

    When was the last time the valve clearances were checked?
