I'm ready to adjust my valve shims. Now, do I check them cold or warm the bike up first ? Also, is it possible to take the valve cover off, check the shims, put the valve cover back on and go get the shims ? (driving the bike that is) Thanks

    -cold.

    -yes.

    More importantly:

Have you responded to Metal_Bob's PM about the raggedy tank badges you told him (and all of us) were new when they clearly are not?

Ya, I did resond. They are new. The backing on those badges have never been peeled off. And tose badges look good. Where the heck you gonna get BRAN BRAN new ones ? nowhere. Those are original yamaha badges. and there nice. Don't know if metal-bob thought they were real gold though.
Those badges are worth $40 bucks. Guy's just a complainer.n Besides how can yhey be used. Try taking them of your tank and they break.

    Um.... No?

NOS from len, are what they say... They are NEW. and PERFECT. look at the ones bigfitz put on his bikes. They look new. Cause they ARE.

These below are USED. taken off a bike by another member on here.

They are in WAY better shape than the ones that you sold as supposed "nos" and were also CHEAPER!

Plus, that adhesive tape sure as hell is not original... Are you kidding me?

I thought you were a nice guy, but if you're going to try and blatantly screw over a member on here, you're not going to have alot of friends, or even more, you'll end up getting the ban hammer and end up on the scammer list.

-The badges you sold Metal_Bob are FAR from new; they're not even what we would reasonably call "VGC" (very good condition.)

-They DO NOT "look good" even compared to other USED badges as in the picture above.

Bob is NOT "just a complainer." He has a VALID complaint.

And I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we all expect you to set it right. Because right now it's NOT.

Not cool. Especially considering that "brand brand new" ones are readily available; XJ4Ever has them.

I can get the exact same tape from walmart for 5 bucks, new tape doesn't make the badges "new".

Not if you know how to do it right. And most of us have done it without breaking them.

Sorry if we upset you, but we don't take kindly to people puttin one over on our members. If the roles were reversed, we'd be on Bob's ass about. Guaranteed.

We also put some of the blame on MB, as does himself, because he knows better than to buy something sight-unseen.

Hey, if'n y'all wanna see a set of new badges, and I mean NEW......take a look at the pic I just put in my gallery. It should be in the list of new photos that scroll on the right, too, but check it out. If someone can also paste the pic in here, that would be awesome, too. Now, in advance.....if you don't think they're new and you don't want to go check--then you're missing the chance to see a set of NOS xj900rk tank badges that are STILL STAPLED IN THE BAGS, labels still attached, original order slips still attached, and dated 9/16/2004--the day they were ordered. Now THAT'S NOS.

I shall quote from the original post that started the Badges forum

"Brand new gold badges. L/R for tank and L/R for side covers. "

Now, they may BE new, but they have been severely worn, from misuse or improper storing. They are NOT in brand new condition. I don't know of anyone on this list that WOULDN'T complain about them.

I shall also address the following, taken directly from this forum:

"Where the heck you gonna get BRAN BRAN new ones ? nowhere."

Well, there ARE places to get them. You just need to know where to look, and what forums to read, as well. Mine ARE BRAND NEW and are in PERFECT BRAND NEW condition, and they are darn sure going to STAY that way.

    "Those are original yamaha badges."

So what.......loads of the crappy scraped, cracked, faded, etc....... pieces all over ebay are original yamaha ones, too. Doesn't mean they're GOOD. Same for a lot of the rusty crap parts that people think are worth a fortune......it's all original yamaha , but much of that is simply useable functional parts and that's about the limit of the quality----functional til a GOOD replacement is found.

    "and there nice."

No they're not nice.....they're solid and functional.

I'm ending my rant, I'll try to restrain myself from any further replies. Remind me I said that......LOL
