Valve shim number decoding

    Just out of curiousity, why are some of my valve shims labelled with a Y (ie Y270) and some with an A (ie 270A)?

    just to confuse the crap out of you.

    Seriously? I believe it's just different manufacturers. Aftermarket shim makers could have different markings (just a guess, based on the fact that original Yammie shims have different markings than the aftermarket ones chacal stocks.)
