'Vetter Fairing

Does anyone have a vetter V fairing on a 1982 XJ650 maxim? Wanting to know if this would fit mine. I Have found a really nice one but its coming off a honda not sure what size yet waiting for a reply from him.

Yes, it will fit, BUT you must have the XJ650 mounting bracket. If you want to see what one would look like on a bike, check out my bike in my gallery.


If you're able to come across an installation kit for the XJ650, that would be a BIG help, too. I got my bracket and my kit on ebay. There are also a lot of parts available right from Craig Vetter. He was a big help when I put mine one, and I got a bunch of parts for it from him.


I think the craigslist price is way high. You can find a better deal if you look and wait it out. Also, the locking compartment is not rare. That's standard issue on the fairings. If the key is missing, so what. Drill it out and put a new locking mechanism on. Craig used stuff that is commonly available, and if you have trouble finding a part, he'll tell you right where to get it, and often will give you a store and item number for where you can order it if he doesn't currently carry it.. For that matter, I may even have an extra cover somewhere. I can't promise that, but I think there's still one or two out in my shop.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll probably just stick to buying a windshield next week.
