I mentioned yesterday that I went for an all-day ride on my Maxim. Here's a short video I shot over the handlebar while riding one of the more legendary (to us motorcyclists, that is) roads in my area.

    [flash=425,355]http://www.youtube.com/v/ARYJOB8qkQ8.swf[/flash]

The road cuts through farm country and skirts the Snohomish River (I think that's the river's name).

I was actually headed for a different destination when I came upon this road. My curiosity got the better of me, so I hit my turn signal and went exploring.

That is a neat video! Thanks for posting it, looks like a great ride. How did you hold the camera and what camera did you use? I should get a new video camera but boy they sure are expensive now.

Would the road be named for the aviator Ben O. Howard?

    Cheers,

    Phil

Thanks! And, you're welcome. It is a fun road to ride.

With my [very cold] left hand. Yep, rode the whole way one-handed.

Canon PowerShot A550. The one that good-looking tennis player with her little dog is selling on the TV.

I got mine at Radio Shack around Christmas time. It was on sale for about $100. Digital camera and shoots unlimited 640x480 video with sound. It's just a good all-around camera.

I really have no idea. Sorry.

Thanks Gamuru, I'll look at Radio Shack and Wally World. That would be a neat little camera to have.

    Cheers,

    Phil

you should try taping or zip tieing the camera somewhere. always works for a temp solution!

I had a Suzuki go by in the other direction right before filming. After I went to Carnation, I hit Ben Howard on the way back (didn't get enough the first two times). When I got to the intersection with Mann, there were four sport bikes (Yamaha's I think; R1's & R6's) working out their route. I waved and headed into Sultan. I almost U-turned to follow... but I was tired and decided to head on home.

you know, since i've started riding, every motorcyclist i've seen, waves.

    i wave back happily.

It's like a 'secret bond'.. Jeepers were the same way too. not people who just owned jeeps, but people who bleed jeeps. but i find alot of the times, only people who wave that are in cages, are farmers..

I try to wave at everyone, just cause it's nice.

The harley guys dont always wave. Cuz were not on "real bikes" i.e bikes that cost way to much. (nothing agains harleys, im sure thier good bikes but why the hostility?)

Yeah, though alot of the harley guys around my area, are just motorcycle lovers, so anything with two wheels is great.

some people just can't put themselfs aside to be nice to someone else, or even acknowledge that other people exist. when there's lots of people around them.

Nice video Don, thanks for sharing. Good job on the "left handed camera" work! For the next video, I would like documentation of a knee being dragged, one-handed, on a Maxim! LOL Thanks again!
