as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
ive seen Len's VIN breakdown thread a couple of times, in fact i have it bookmarked or copied to a DOC file someplace but i can not recall if there is a digit in the VIN that identifies the color of the bike...

i know that in cars and trucks there is a 2 or 3 digit alpha-numeric 'code' that tells the color of the exterior and interior of the car/truck in question...

does anyone have the proper paint code for the 750rj RED? i dont have the exact name of the color in front of me but i think its a 'brilliant' red. if not the exact code maybe something close...

    thanks

Hey Dave........nope, no color code in the VIN.

1982 XJ750 Seca models were available in:

    Code 6M---Star Silver
    Code 63---Brilliant Red

I carry both of these paints in either spray bombs or pints. The #63 is what is known as a "brilliance" color in the paint-mix industry, meaning it has so much pearlescence and special tints to it that it must be applied in a 2-stage process (base color, then mid-color coats). This process, of course, makes it about twice as expensive as single-color forumlations........but you'll never be able to duplicate that #63 color code with a single stage paint.

Hi could you tell me what the paint code is for the Ruby Red used on the side covers of a 1983 XJ750K maxim. I live in Canada  so I have to get it from a local dealer in Ottawa who does the same as you do has paints for the bikes. Thanks.
