I recently purchased a used motor on eBay for my 83 xj750 Maxim. The serial number on the motor is 5G2-010197 is there a way of telling if it is a 750cc motor. Also whether it is off Maxim or a seca?

    1. The displacement is cast into the cylinder block along the center front.
    2. The Seca engines have pressed-in aluminum motor mounts, while the Maxim has larger holes to accept the rubber mounts.

TECH TOPIC: Model ID and VIN's
5G2 is a U.S. Seca. The engine is a direct swap, but if you want the rubber mounts you will have to have the Seca mounts pressed out of the cases (carefully).
