Got a chance to pickup another Seca 750, for free, thats been sitting for years. The property owner has no ownership for it, a tenant abandoned it years ago.

The VIN label on the steering stem is just about worn off but I did find numbers stamped on the stem " 5H2-000684 " VIN numbers normally have 17 digits. Anywhere else I can find the VIN?

I have recently bought a 1981 xj750 and after doing a bit of research I have started to realize that there are a lot of different models and names . My vin number is 5n1-000834. And date of manufacture is 5/81. Can anyone narrow down my bike so I can start learning more about it . Thanks

Hello Wormburner, that would be 750 Seca RH model ie. '81, later years were RJ and RK all basically the same. From what i can tell Oz and UK models are the same thing.

For future reference; if your vin sticker is worn the VIN should have also been factory stamped into the frame on the opposite side of the headstock. The sticker is mainly there to make it easier to read, and because there is a warning tag that is pop riveted over part of the vin on models with the cable actuated brake master cylinder.

You don't need the VIN sticker; you can "reverse engineer" your 17-digit VIN from the "shorty" VIN on top of the crankcase. That's what Kaz did, above.
