Hi all. I bought an 82 seca 750 not to long ago. I've already modified my handlebars to my liking, but I would like a lower seat as I find the stock one too high and way to big. I want to eliminate the big rear fender and seat but don't necessarily want a tiny bobber seat. I'll fabricate if necessary but I want to keep the stock gas tank. Any ideas or pictures of other projects? I'm thinking of taking a seat off a Harley rocker-c and making that work somehow.. Idk how hard that will be but I like the option of a passenger

A couple of members have modified Harley seats to fit their XJ's, search the forums for pics and ideas.
You could also reform your seat to your liking and have it recovered.

I re-contoured the rear of mine, blending away the "kick" in the middle, so I can sit back, and lowering the back so my trunk would open better (it opens forward)

The stock foam is easy to shape with a bread knife and a $10 stapler can be used to put on some new vinyl. You may want to cut it down a bit and save the hinges and lock.

Sounds cool @TIMEtoRIDE can you post some pics up of your bike? What do you mean the "kick"?

So im thinking ill be reshaping my seat. What would i use to make the bottom? Because I assume it would need to be something I can staple the leather to when I wrap it under

I just shaved mine down and then bought some vinyl off Amazon
then just restapled it to the seat with a power stapler

Looks good @Hotcakesman I Think Im going to try to do the same but go even smaller with the seat. You used the same bottom? Or a new base to staple to?

    same bottom
you can make is more slender
I then drilled a hole and put a bolt into it
and then drilled a hole in the fender so that then I used a washer and
nut of the underside of the fender to fasten it
much less of a headache, and no need for any fabrication
    also keeps airbox in tact
I would advise adding a gel pad into the seat, I did not
and shaved it down and covered it with Yoga mat (3 layers)
but after an hour of riding you feel it
this winter I am going to add a 60 dollar pad, then re-upholster

Yea I've seen those gel pads being used in YouTube videos. What are they called and where can i buy them? Because ill definitely be cutting alot of the foam out to make the seat alot shorter so the extra comfort would be nice

The "kick" is the one-inch step where the passenger portion is higher than the front.

There was also an odd "soft spot" in the center of my seat, a square filled with softer foam I don't know why.
If I ever re-do my seat, I'll get stiffer foam for that.

Maybe it was a gel pad? @TIMEtoRIDE do you have any pics of it so I can see what you did?
