Around 30 inches should be good. If anyone knows somewhere local to Boston where I can get some that would be great too.

    At your local hardware store.

I went uptown (Capac has a pop of ~1700) and got a chunk of what is known as 'black pipe,' dunno what "size" it is, because that stuff is sized by ID. But it's GD close to 7/8" OD, I used it as a "temporary handlebar and convenient pivot point" while restoring my 550s.

I suspect you have the same purpose in mind? If you want it as an actual handlebar, go get a "drag bar." Nearly straight but at least halfway functional.

I was thinking about going the drag bar route, but I'm not sure I like them. I figure for 10 bucks somewhere local I can try a straight pipe. I'm not going to be riding long distances, so comfort isn't a huge concern of mine.

I tried a few local stores and didn't find anything...The closest I got at the big chain stores was 3/4in

I was getting frustrated not finding what I wanted using the 7/8 measurement. Then I started thinking, what's that measurement anyways? I took a small tape measure and measured the outer diameter of the stock handlebars and found a 30in straight pipe that was almost dead on. It mounts perfectly, though the grips need sleeves, but no big deal.

I love the way it looks. Normally I'd post pictures, but it's raining like hell here and my bike is out of my basement and I don't have a garage. Check my build thread for updates... My thread
