I have 82 xj650 and I'm also turning it into a cafe racer...I have shed weight (obviously), r1 front forks, seat pan, lithium battery, and other small mods, just wondering if any of you have looked at performance (carbs, engine work)??? I realize there is "not much" you can do for the xjs...but I also have a friend who upgraded the carbs, cam, and the performance upgrade was extremely noticeable...so much so that a cb450 (different bike..I know) was walking away from much newer bikes. Just wondering??? Keep up the good work

you could put a 750 motor in your 650.
there may still be a company that sells cams.
you can rejet your carbs a little

what have you done to reduce weight?
