    You can buy a whole KIT with EVERYTHING.
    Friction Discs, Driven Plates, Springs and New Fasteners.

    Sometimes you only NEED Friction Discs.
    Driven Plates can be re-used if not Burned, Scored or Warped.

    Different Hardware is available.
    Springs rated for Performance.
    Standard replacement Hardware.

    A lot will depend upon what you find when you disassemble the Clutch and Inspect the Present Drivers and their overall condition.

    :::WARNING :::
    Be sure you have an ACCURATE Torque Wrench for Torquing the Fasteners during reassembly. Breaking a Clutch Fastener is or Stripping a Case Threading will be hard to recover from. <>

    Clutch rebuild: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=29541.html

    While this article contains the intricate details that pertain only to the 550/600s, the clutches in the bigger bikes are virtually the same.

    The shafties do not have "tabbed" plain plates or a clutch boss spring inside a special friction plate to worry about; otherwise the clutches come apart and go together in the same way and everything else in the article applies.

    Depending on the mileage on your bike and the kind of treatment it's had, you MAY only need friction plates, springs and a new gasket. This is quite often all that's needed.

    But like Rick said, the only way to know for sure is to take it apart. Check the plain plates for blueing, scoring, excessive hammering of the teeth or warpage; if they're fine then you can clean those up with Scotchbrite and re-use them.

    Put your bike info in your sig; it makes giving more specific advice easier.
