I'm probably asking an elementary question for most of you folks, but what does it mean when I see the word "Bump" in a forum reply.

There is usually no other word with it.

I guess I'm not forum lingo savvy...

I'm kinda old and...well I forgot what I was gonna say.

Somebody wants an answer to a Post.
The Post is old and not scrolling his Post.
    He "Bumps" the old Post.
    Just writes Bump.

    It's new again.

    Oh, I got it now.

Kinda like these young guys I work with here in the office.

They want to replace the old stuff (me) with something new (them), so they are trying to "Bump" me...

It's good to learn a new language.

    Thanks.

I must correct you all. A bump is another word for a road in New Hampshire during mud season. (The season that people in other parts of the country call Spring)

In Missouri, a bump is what you get after MODOT "fixes" a pothole.
