Yep, you're absolutely right there OP. It's all about what looks good on you. Not how good it's going to protect you.

Modular, only open it up when at a stop talking to a friend, but convenient.
    Helmet on for every ride.

HJC full face; it's more comfortable than a 3/4 or 1/2 because it cuts the wind and has less drag. You don't get wind noise like you do from the edges of the soup bowl helmits. With venting they are not hot, at least while you are moving. I always wear a riding jacket, have a summer one and a winter one.

Onother great thing about riding an XJ is you can wear any helmit you want unlike the harley guys who have to wear turtle shells for fear of getting laughed at if they wore a real helmit.

Having actually tested a helmet in crash I was glad I had one. I was doing stupid stunts on a snowmobile and attempted a hard right turn at a pretty good speed on an icy road. The snowmobile made the turn I didn't. Fell from a height of about 3 feet hit the road and slid for apx 15 feet my head banging against the ice the whole way. Got up and walked away.

I saw one photo years ago of a full face helmet were a guy slid on his face. That's all it took for me. It's full face all the time since then.

HCI cheapo flip-up helmet for every ride. I feel safe in it, and I like the fact that I can flip up the chin bar when I stop, but man, that thing isn't quiet!

I'll probably buy a Scorpio EXO-500 full face with a flippable internal sun visor, and inflatable cheek pads, to reduce the noise even more.

I have a HJC 3/4 hemlet. I actually bought it to use in autocross. I hadn't even considerent the possibility of a motorcycle then. Turns out it is a size too big. I bought it in 2009 so I will get a new one next season.

Helmets are a great idea, but I don't think laws should be made requiring you to wear them. Not wearing a helmet only endangers yourself. Also, it helps to sift the idiots out of the gene pool.

I wear an Anthracite (steely blue) HJC IS-MAX BT with a gold visor.

I could add a bluetooth device, but it didn't come with one. I also bought the snowmobile visor for it, and so it doubles as my snowmobile helmet.

I'm really interested in finding a way to get my hands on a ROOF or AIROH helmet next. I just love the look, but they seem to be only in Europe and the UK.

I've been considering drawing up a line of tshirts advertising the reasons why you should wear a helmet. It'd be subtle/clever: "Reason #1: Horseflies" and then a cartoon-y drawing of a big ugly horsefly, half smashed. Then somewhere else, nice and small, "Always wear a helmet" or something like that. I wouldn't want it to be immediately obvious what the shirt is about, so it draws people in.
