    Hi All,

My Maxim X starts and runs fine (knock on wood). The temp gage's needle stays mostly in the left quarter of the dial, indicating that the temp is low. After riding slow (15-25 mph) for about an hour, the needle may go to the center. The bike seems to run a little better (it runs ok even when cold) with the temp needle in the center. I am yet to see the fan working. I know that running engine too cool is not very healthy.

What is the normal position of the needle and what is the normal temperature? How long does it take for your maxim X to heat up to this normal temperature, assuming outside temp is 65ish? When does the radiator start getting warm, i.e. how long does it take for thermostat to open?

    I am hypothesizing:
    - thermostat stuck open?
    - engine temperature sensor or temp gage faulty?
    - Everything is normal, just I am paranoid and ignorant

my maxim x also runs fine. and i have yet to see the temp go beyond halfway.....but its still pretty cold up here in maine!!
from what i gather the maxim x has a very efficient cooling system.

if yure thermostat was stuck open yu would not get any reading on the temp guage at all.

sounds like yure bike is runnin fine. havnt had my bike very long...but it does run kinda cool.........an fast....yeeehaaa :D
