Either that, or he is trying to keep the carbs anonymous!

...those are secret carbs. Engineered to be the ultimate performance upgrade in the history of the XJs. That or they're just too dirty to show us!

I liked the other stories better.

Like the old irish tune: 'I got a mikuni trimmed with blue'

    Or are they hitachis ?

In my case even when my bike is warmed up my idle is below 700 rpms. If i don't continually rev then the engine it will die. Can i just adjust my idle up with that blue framed screw?

It was nice of the owner to keep the carbs warm in the recent cold.

Your idle is set way too low. Spec. is 1050. Crank it up!

Yes. That Adjuster makes contact with a shelf on the Linkage that moves the whole set of Butterflys open or closed as the Idle Adjustment Rod is turned.

You can look down in between the middle carbs and see the end of the rod come in contact with the shelf on the linkage it moves.
Adjust the rod so that it just touches the shelf.

    Run the bike.
If you need more Idle Speed ... turn the Rod in moving the shelf and the whole linkage to open the Throttles a bit.

Ideally, you'd like to have the Pilot Mixtures set so that you don't need to add much Idle Adjustment. The Rod introduces Air for about a quarter of a turn then begins Metering Main Jet Fuel into the Engine ... depending on if your Carbs are Mikuni or Hitachi.
