Haven't yet ridden through a full tank of gas from start to finish, so I have no idea what to expect from my bike.

Anyone want to post ballpark figures? How far can you go on a tank? How often do you fill up?

I get about 45-50 on my 700S if I don't get on it. I can almost go a week on 1 tank of gas.

took close to 70-80 miles to hit my reserve, I could be off slightly, but that should be close.

Just filled mine up tonite. About 40 mpg mixture freeway (70MPH) and surface cruising at 40. Also, lost some because I drained the carbs to put in new needles and seats and clean clogged pilot wells.

I've found that cruising surface highways (50 - 55 with few lights or stop signs) I get about 45. Doing 70 on the freeway I get 35.

Rule of thumb, set the trip odometer to 0 when you fill up. At 100 miles it's time to fill up again. If you're above 90 miles and it aint running right put it on RES and get gas soon.

Just running normal up to 55mph I have gotten 54 mpg. I just took a 400 mile trip going 65 or so and got in the upper 40's. I usually always fill at 100 miles but during a bike ride I went around 130 miles and didn't hit the reserve.

Lefty, on my XJ750 I'm averaging 215 km per tank, 7 L/100 km, which is a hair over 40 miles per imp gal. Most of my driving is back and forth to work in town. A bit of highway travel on weekends.

I've never pushed it to empty, I need to switch to reserve around 190 km and then get to a gas station.

I'm about the same as Nick. At 200 kms and I'll be into reserve and not passing any gas stations. After a couple hours in the seat, it's time for a break anyways!

82 XJ650J and I have gotten between 45 and 51 MPG since I picked this bike up this spring. That's about 10 tank fulls so far. It's only a 4.3 gallon tank and I need to switch to reserve at about 2.6 gallons down from full.

I get between the mid 40s and low 50s depending on what I'm doing. Funnily enough, cruising around between 50 and 80 has netted me the best mileage so far.

On my xj550, I get about 90 miles before reserve in the city. On the highway, I get about 160 or so.

Filled up last night and got 48mpg. This is with conservative riding. If I hit the throttle hard alot then its more like 35mpg.

Awesome! I'll fill up today and ride it until I hit reserve. I'm not the most... conservative rider, so we'll see how she goes :)

Before I started working on it, I would typically get an overall of 40. Just to experiment, I tried driving no faster than 55, and one time, did manage to squeeze 47 out of it.

After doing the carbs, swapping shims and ballpark-syncing the carbs with the vacuum gauges, and maintaining a top speed of 65, the first tank yielded 42.9. The second was better; 47.5. If this keeps up, I will indeed be a happy camper.

I tend to get a consistent 40 - 42 no matter where I drive but then my carbs are not completely tuned yet. (Synced but not colortuned.)

But I also drive 60 miles per day during the week round trip to work and back. You can probably count most of my mileage as highway rather than city.
