    Hi,

Quick question on changing petcock from vacuum to gravity.
I have an 85 kawasaki gpz550 and am putting in a new petcock. Gravity controlled.

Right now there is the fuel line going to two carbs. The other two (carbs) have lines that join in a T, and this joined line goes towards front of bike and into engine somewhere.
Since I am changing the petcock, I assume I can just put caps on those two carb ports and also block off the line that goes into the engine? Don't want to remove anything in case I want to switch back.
    I hope that makes sense.

Actually, I was wrong with description. Fuel line does not go into two carbs.
So the fuel line goes into carb rack. Two of the lines are for overflow and vent out.
    Seen on right in pic.
The four lines (resulting in two T joints) is what I am concerned about. I believe one came from vacuum petcock, the other one goes to line that ends in engine.

So I just remove all lines on the left and put caps on? And the line that goes to engine (not in pic) will be plugged as well?

Once you get it ready to run, turn the engine over as start it. Start feeling the ends of the lines. It will become readily apparent which ones are vacuum lines. I also reccomend getting a service manual for that machine, because in addition t having a vacuum operated petcock, it has an emissions canister, which also requires vacuum.

Thanks Moe. I will have another look at it.
Maybe I just go back to vacuum in case I find one on the internets. Would make things easier.
I agree with the manual but I am not yet certain if I keep the bike or not.

At the moment, I am only taking parts off to have better access for a good cleaning.
In case I do keep it, I will tear it down to frame and do a more detailed job. And then it's definitely time for a manual.

Cool, thanks. The first one did not open on tablet and appears to be corrupted but I'll try again on computer.

Here before and after a first cleaning. Didn't bother with wheels bc she needs new tires at some point. Unless bike sells before.

yes. i have this one on CL and get a lot of emails about it. seems to be very popular.
but since i just sold my main bike, i might keep it. it's a really cool ride.
