Hey everyone. What is the best kind of gas to run in my 82 maxim 650 . is 92 overkill or will it help performance.

Also should i use a synthetic oil in my bike or just regular?

Hey stone. I just asked all of this about my maxim x 700

Assuming they are relatively similar.. I was told to run low to mid grade. I didn't notice much a performance boost when using 92. I just always use mid grade personally.

Oil on my bike I bought synthetic but the guys on here told me to take it back and go conventional. So that is what I did.

    Here is my 2 cents....
I use a synthetic but I use Mobil 1 4T 10W-40 and this oil is made for wet clutches. It really helped with shifting performance on my bike. I have used it for over a year and I really like it.
As for as gas goes, I use Premium (92) because it is the only one I can get around here that is Non-Ethanol. If you can find non-ethanol gas then use that because ethanol will eventually varnish up your jets etc.

I use Castrol 4T 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil. As far as fuel goes, I use the cheap stuff because even the 92 has up to 10% Ethanol in it. Can't find anywhere in town that has Non-Ethanol, but if you have that option definitely go for it (unless cleaning carbs is fun to you!)

I can't remember if it was on here, or another forum.

Someone emailed Shell asking about ethanol, and the reply was that NO grades of Shell gas has ethanol.

Because of their nitrogen additive I would assume.

So for us Canucks, goto Shell!!!
