or whats usually considered grave yard for a 650 motor... just wondering cause my bikes got 67,000 km on it and my motor has 69,000 on it no rebuild from what i know... still sounds good though lol

That's roughly 42000 miles. My 650 was showing 51954 before I removed the gauges. It runs excellent doesn't smoke. Only leaked oil at valve cover (now fixed). As long as an engine is maintained it will run a long time. I've seen some goldwings with close to 300000 miles

Mileage is irrelevant, how it has been maintained is far more important

I have an xj650 RJ 1982, has 110 000kms, no smoke and good compressions, but as stated above, totally depends on the maintenance, i do oil and filter changes every 5000kms, and there are no metal flakes in the oil, and the colour is pretty good, chocolate i think.

    good luck hitting the 100k

My 750 says almost 43,000. From what I've read on this site, be prepared to go in for the chain guides at 60,000, and going in can be a deal-breaker for some folks. Then there's that bike with 200,000 miles. Everyone should have a spare motor- - they are cheap.

I know of two bikes that have hit 300,000 km (187,000 miles) -- so with good maintenance these bikes can last a loooooong time

My 1983 XJ900 has 140,000km on the clock and runs really well. 50,000 of those km are mine, and I've had very little trouble...minor electrical mostly. Best bike I've ever had. Used it every day until March this year. (Bloody arthritis! Can't ride in Winter any more!!!)
I have another XJ900 as a spare which shows 130,00km and has an excellent engine. Don't know what was done to it before I got it though.

97,000km (58,500mi) on my clock and seems to work like new as far as compression, oil consumption and power go. My broken chain guide will hopefully not cause an unwanted tear down.

1981 XJ650H Maxim, 99,140kms, approx 60,000 miles, and still running well. I think the key is frequent oil and plug changes with quality products. I used Castrol 20w50 and NGK plugs every 3 or 4 thousand kms.

I hope my shadow last that long. It has close to 27,000 miles on it now and it runs very well.

My bike was abused to hell all its life, and it just pulled perfect compression at 45,000mi.
