Hi everyone, newcomer to the board but longtime xj650 owner.
I am working on my 1980 xj650 maxim canadian model bike, getting her back on the road.
Waiting on parts, so I am checking electrical since it was in storage awhile.
Question: what is the cable shown in the picture and where does the other end go?
    Thanks

I think that the other end goes to back of engine on a crankcase bolt

motor to frame ground. it is where it belongs. if you look at photo just under air box you will see a connector that should be the other end

    Thanks for the reply.
The other end of the cable was attached to the rearward starter bolt.
I am in the process of reviewing the electrical on the bike. I will move it back to its original spot
