where the heck do they put the tool bag

    hey fellas i was just wondering if anyone knew where the tool bag is kept on an 85 maxim-x 750.... i thought it might be under the seat but its not there and i dont think there is room under the seat for it.... would like to know so i can make up a kit or find the one on the bike if there is one! THANX

    On my 82 xj550 it would have been under the seat but you wouldn't know it at first glance. It is just a small tray directly in the middle of where the seat sits. If you have this plastic tray, that is probably it.

    Next to the battery?

    First off, if you have an '85 Maxim "X" then it's a 700.

    Look in the fiche: http://www.yamahapartshouse.net/pages/p ... parts.aspx

    Under "SIDE COVER" there's a large box, Ref #5, 1AA-21171-00-00
    BOX, TOOL. It looks like the battery might go in it too, and the tool kit off to one side? Access might be from under the front seat, hard to tell.

    Need a Max-X owner to chime in here...

    My bike is an 1985 xj 750 maxim-xn it is the canadain version of the maxim-x... It is not the 700 !

    oldbiker I guess i will have a closer look thanx!

    thanx for the reply i never did look down in the battery box just seen the battery and moved on ... thanx again for the replies fellas!
