Last night while contemplating how to vacuum bleed my brakes (hint: the bleeders you can buy at harbor freight for 19.99, do not hold up so well to brake fluid and/or brake cleaner!!) I was looking at my bike wondering what to do. So.......I came up with the ingenius plan to use the bikes own vacuum to help me out. Before you criticize, hear me out. I didn't get to do it all the way but it was a good start. I disconnected the vacuum hose from the intake boot by the carb. I hooked up the typical vacuum hose setup (hose from bleeder to jar and jar to vacuum port). I then used a some starting fluid to get/keep the bike going and lo and behold, it started to work! Tell me I am a genius or tell me otherwise. I thought this would be a "redneck" (to say the least) way to vacuum bleed the brakes. Thoughts??

As long as you have the jar rigged up properly and watch so the fluid doesn't go in the motor sounds good. Y would you have to keep the bike running on starter fluid tho?? While mine won't idle right it will idle and run with one plug off of one carb boot for this process.

I used the starting fluid to keep mine going right away. Its a hard starter and hadnt been started in a while. Guess that is a mute point.

Try a $2 Disposable Plastic Syringe [2 oz variety] Fill with Fluid , attach to an open Bleeder REVERSE flush the fluid into the caliper. Repeat for the other calipers. Job Done ..period.
