Why do new throttle controls have two throttle cables?

I'm tiring to find a new throttle control to function with my new bar mounted Master Cylinder.

I already did use a Dremel tool to cut down the stock throttle... I can keep hacking, but they dont want to jive. Plus it looks stupid because I now have two useless holes to mount a mirror on my handle bar!

I read somewhere about tiring a R6 Throttle control and I noticed it has two cables. Then I noticed most newer bike do have dual cables.

What is the reason for this? Can thins still be converted for our bikes?

    Thanks Much!!

Dual cables are not entirely new. My first recollection of push-pull cables was on a dirt bike from the mid 70's (I was 7 at the time, so my memory is fuzzy on this). Push-pull cables give a greater degree of control over the slides on non CV carbs (and on FI throttle bodies) and ensure that the slides close even if the return spring brakes.

You can use a dual cable throttle tube on a single cable bike by only fitting one cable to it (make sure you fit it to the correct side of the throttle tube).

Be aware that there are differences in the throttle tube cam from one bike to the next, which will change how responsive the throttle is. There are throttle tubes avaliable that will give wide-open-throttle in as little as a quarter turn of the grip. That's great for drag-racing, but not so much for a street bike. Imagine how much fun parking lot maneuvers would be!
