Why wont my Turn signals flash

    I have a 1982 Yamaha xj550 maxim and i keep having this problem where the turn signals refuse to flash they just hold steady and nothing I've done has helped, I've replaced the relay capacitor and the entire relay to no avail, I was forced to get all new turn signals since 2 were missing and the stems for the others were rotted away, and i noticed the wire gauge is slightly smaller than factory so idk if that could be it and ive checked that all bulbs are 26.9w so its shouldn't be those right? Any and all help is welcome thanks

    Is the flasher relay the stock "rectangular box" unit, or an aftermarket version?
