Will 1982 XJ650 head and pistons fit in the 1980 one?

    Got a seized 1980 xj650, found some pistons and head from eBay from a 1982 one for a decent deal, will it fit? I heard the 1982+ xj are different from the 80-81 ones

    The part numbers are the same so there's a good chance that the pistons are the same. Have a look at the link i've posted and you decide. If it was me, i'd go for them. The 1983 650 Maxim look like they are different though.
    Yamaha XJ650 parts: order genuine spare parts online at CMSNL CMSNL are the European distributors for all Japanese bikes. The American versions are usually the same.

    if its siezed .wouldnt you be better sourcing the barrels rather than the head o_O

    I found 4 pistons and a head all together for $120, appears to cheaper than shimming
