Will a 550 tank fit on my Maxim 650?

I have a Yamaha Maxim 650, and the tank is rusted inside with small holes
in the bottom. I can have it repaired by gas tank renu for about 150.00,
but have the option of picking up a pretty decent Maxim 550 tank.

Any ideas if this will work?

    Thanks

Nope, won't fit without some serious modification...

I was under the impression that a xj550 and a xj650 tank was the same. Learn something new every day.

Nope. Almost nothing "550" will fit the bigger bikes, except some of the switch pods, etc.

You can upgrade to a Maxim 750 tank for some extra range,
You should be able to clean and seal it yourself for less than $150.
