    But, I was wonderin if its the same with my '82 XJ750J Maxim?

    check this guys treads cturek. I used his mod to do my headlight bucket and it made it super easy. I pm'ed him with a few questions and he was more than happy to answer. I dont think it would be any different for yours. getting ride of the boxy headlight and atrai made a huge differnce in the look. put on a old school lucas tear dropish chrome headlight brand new for $49 off a cafe racer site. cant rememer the name but google cafe parts and it will come up, CafeRace, Inc - Manitou Springs, Colorado - 719.685.2475 . mounts good pricer to. i picked up a new chrome tac and speedo for $40 each and work great came on a mount that went in to each side of the old atari bolting holes. good luck
