Hey guys, i'm new to the site and this might sound like a stupid question to some of you more experienced builders. I am considering doing an xj 550 turbo build and was wondering if the exhaust and intake manifolds from a 650 turbo will fit directly on to the stock 550 engine and carbs? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

You won't be able to turbocharge a 550 with stock carbs, the 650 turbo carbs are sealed and get pressurized. And to answer your question...No, the intake/exhaust mounting and diameters are very different between the 550 and it's larger displacement brothers.

Now if you're thinking of fuel injecting it and doing some of your own plumbing, engine mods, etc, maybe (for a lot of money). But bolt on turbo...no.

Thanks, i didn't think it wouldn't be a bolt n go situation but i figured this would be the best way to find out. I have considered fuel injection, a different head etc, but i guess it would be much more cost effective to finish bobbing this one and then find a factory 650 turbo. Thanks again
