I don't where I could look this up so I'll ask you guys. Will a 1982 XJ650 Seca Turbo fit my 82 XJ650 Maxim. What mods to the harness will be needed ? Thanks, Chad

Fit?...yes, but you'll have a lot of extra wires: the turbo models were fuel injected.

That's not to say it can't be done, just that you'll need wiring diagrams for both bikes to tell what's what. The other electrical stuff should be the same, although there may be a surprise in the ignition wiring.

OUCH! One for the 82 650 Maxim sold last week on eBay for next to nothing. I almost bought it just to have. Now I wish I had.....

PM me and let me know where in Michigan you are.

I'm almost positive some of the connections will not be the same for the maxim as the turbo. You may have to do a lot of modificaitons to fit it but I doubt it is plug and play.

Yeah I pretty much want it from the relays back ...... fuse box, taillights, brakelight etc. Does anyone have a (or know where to look) good fuse box wiring diagram?

I've had great success with the Haynes manual, schematics are reliable but small. Could take it to Kinkos to get it blown up. Heck, swipe the kid's crayons while your at it and color the diagram!

Very unlikely to find a harness with a fusebox. Pretty much any fusebox that hasn't been replaced needs to be.

Does your harness really need to be replaced? Or is it repairable.

You can find wiring diagrams here.

Alright I hate to keep asking but how about a 1980 XS650 Special?

I really don't know how to compare wiring harnesses and if they should fit. I won't be using any safety switches or anything, and possibly no turn signals. Just trying to get something off ebay that'll fit

Dodge, do you have a harness now that is in sad shape (salvage possibility) or is it missing entirely? XS might work but you would need to see if they are the same schematically for the areas you care to use. They should also match for length for the circuits you plan to use. If your not in a huge hurry, I've picked up a few harnesses off E-bay for cheap. The desired harness will show up if you can wait.

This box of parts on eBay seems to have a harness.

The seller doesn't know year. If it's a pre '82 you'll have to modify it to work with the sidestand safety system and the electronic tach. Still probably less work than the other harnesses you asked about.

Of course it may not even be a Maxim harness. For sure that oil cooler wasn't Maxim orignal equipment.

cant you go to a wrecking yoard and use the 82 Seca Turbo harness and cobble it up to the XJ harness?

You might be able to just add a fuse block and whatnot!?

Oops...my mistake, I was thinking of Kawasakis that had forced induction.

    The Seca used pressurized carbs.

The connectors for the turbo bike's CDI box is very different from the normally aspirated versions, and the turbo bike also has a boost sensor and detonation sensor that interacted with the ignition. How they do so, and whether any circuit(s) would need to be jumpered/bypassed/ignored I've no idea. That's something you may have to discover if you want to use the harness from a turbo 650 on your bike.

As I posted earlier, the ignition wiring might be interesting.

The rest of the turbo's wires and connectors should mostly be the same, but I would still try to find a harness from a non-turbo bike.

Here are two at a decent price-

    '82 750 Seca wiring harness

    '81 750 Seca wiring harness
