wiring mods

    hi i have a 81 maxim 600 and it wont try to turn over the neutral light wont come on and the oil level light wont shut off it has plenty of oil and it is in neutral.i would like to remove the oil sensor the kick stand switch and relay and any thing else that might stop it from starting how do i do that?

    Sounds like you've got some other work to do before you get to that point there son - slow your roll....

    First you need to find out why the indicator lights aren't right - especially the neutral light. If the neutral indicator isn't working, nothing you do short of completely messing up the wiring will get it to start. That's probably why it won't turn over right there. Check that the bulb is good, then work your way back and check connectors, wires, etc - you'll find it.

    The oil level light could be a bad sensor, or a corroded connector - all easily checked and fixed, or you can ignore if you're sure.

    The 81 650 Maxim shouldn't have a kick stand switch to worry about (mine doesn't), but in general removing things or disabling them is a bad idea.

    You should be able to pull the clutch in and bypass the neutral switch safety circuit (assuming your clutch circuit works).
