Ok. I stripped my 82 seca 650 down to the engine and frame. Did a complete rebuild and rewired the electrical for simplicity. Looks awesome, but now when I fire it the engine takes off. Instantly at 5-6 k rpm. The throttle cable is fine (not too tight) and the choke is good too. I'm stumped. Presently pulling the carbs apart since once during the rebuild they took a tumble off the table. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated

perhaps reversed the choke and throttle cables, seems to be a common occurance. do you have your idle thumb screw in too much?

Super, make sure when you got the carbs off that they pass the clunk test. You may have a sleeve hanging keeping your revs up.

Please add your location to your profile (location and climate can affect answers) and some details about your bike, like mileage, to your sig.

The clunk test is ensuring that all of your carb slides can fall with a resounding "clunk." If not, you gots some polishin' to do.

There are a number of possible causes for your problem the more information you can provide the better.
