need tires for the 82 xj650 i believe they are 100/90/19f and 130/60/16 r mine are old old old and dried out big time . but i dont want to spend major dough on new ones since this is my first bike and i am still learning. i would prefer radial no bias ply's and have lots of parts to trade or small amount of cash.

You'll have a tough time finding radials in that size, I'm not even sure they make them. Check out chapparalmotorsports.com, they have the best prices on tires that I've found. You can get the Dunlop D404's for $45-55 a piece, they're the cheapest of the name brands. Kenda Challengers go for around $35-40 each. Oh, and shipping on them is $9 per tire. I know because I just ordered a couple D404's...

since this is your first bike, dont go by just price on tires. You can get cheap chen shin ones for a few bucks, but I had one on the rear of my xj 550 when I got it, and the first thing I did was replace it, even tho it still had about 3/4 tread left on it, and no dry rot. It sucked in the rain big time. I put a set of Michellin Macadam tires on two yrs ago, and I love the way they handle, either dry or wet, even thru standing water several inches deep. The chen shin ones made the rear end wanna kick out if there was even a drop of water on the sidewalk four feet away from the road I was on.

Soslow93, I struck up a good working relationship with one of my favorite bike shops (Not a stealership) and they let me have the run of the old tire pile. Got several tires that fit all of my bikes with plenty of meat left on them for free! Offer your services for trade, floors and bathrooms always need to be cleaned up and labor ain't cheap.
