I just uploaded pics of my old xj 650. its gettin a makeover. Like i already mentioned its getting a 160 rear tire, made a good modification to squeeze it in, ill reveal the trick it when i got pictures, so you'll believe it :D im adding a nice paintjob on it ( red flames with "Dark" black theme) I was able to buy a second hand double disk front brake from a xj 650 (euro version) to replace the original single disk brake. i also added the oil cooler which it originally didnt have. And to top it off, i got a nice BMW switches unit ( i dunoo how they call it in english, the thing where you have all the switches for lights horn starter etc. ) the thing is it has a hydraulic clutch unit. Fortunately i was able to combine the hydraulic clutch mechanism with the mechanic clutch. more on that when the project is finished. wish me luck!!!

Looks amazing thus far! Nice paint work :D

I'm curious to see what you do with the BMW parts...

Another modded XJ showing the versatility of these bikes, I love it!

Nice looking so far! I'll be eager to see it too, but I'm guessing that you somehow moved the tire over to the right inside the swingarm. Did a little research on the V-max guys, and that's what they do to get a 170 in a swingarm designed for a 150. Main thing I'd be worried about is how a 160 width tire would do on the stock width rim. Anyone know the width of our stock rear wheel?

Speaking of V-maxes, I see one in the background. Is it yours??

He PM'd me back a few days ago and said the V-max was another customer's bike that was in the same shop as his. He also said he fabricated a spacer to move the tire over in the swingarm, much like the V-max guys do. I'm still anxiously awaiting pics, I'll bet a 160 looks pretty beefy on the rear of a Maxim!!

to bad its a waste. Yea its a 160 so you should be more grippy however your doing disjunction to the centerline of the bike. Thats a big no no.

Wow! Looks very beefy!! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on how it handles with the wider tire on.
