My ol' faithful 82' XJ 750 is slipping out of gear. Mostly from 2nd to neutral, but today when I gunned it it actually dropped from 4th to 3rd (or maybe 5th to 4th). This is not happening _real_ often, but a couple times a week (daily rider) is kind of too much for me.

I am at 19k. Am I need of a complete teardown of the gearbox?

Yea, I think I read about that before. Is that the plastic thing that falls apart?

If I remember the post I have to split the case for that one. I can be a somewhat aggressive rider. Sorry, it's just too much fun ;o)

Also, It takes a hard shift to get it into 2nd gear sometimes. I did a demo ride for Triumphs right now. Man, they are nice. Looking forward to the old lady given me the green light to get a new one (we a new family car first).

    Thanks,
