Hi guys, I'd like to share with you my build progress on my recently acquired XJ 900. I'm new to the forums, but thought this would be interesting for you guys and also for me to hear your opinions. So, let me first introduce the bike:

It's a 1991 model (or that's what it says, at least). It's my first XJ. I bought it for 500 euros and it's in pretty good condition. I had to drive it home without functioning front brakes (safety second..) and some leaking fork seals. I already got around to repairing those. The front brake lines were replaced with stainless steel ones, but there was a leak at one of the crushers. Replaced all those and bled the brake system and it's braking like new again :))

Had a harder time with the fork seals, as the hex bolts on the bottom wouldn't come out. After some hours of struggling that got resolved though and the seals have been replaced. The ride is wonderful again!

Homemade tool for the front end:

Now.. for my build I want to ditch the fairing and most of the bodywork, as it looks a bit too 'fat' in my opinion. The big exhausts will come off as well and I'll be fabricating something for that. I'm going for a naked style with a tidy rear end. I'll also be making panels for the sides and I already have an idea for the design of that. I'll be aiming for kind of a cafe racer style, for lack of a better term.

Google the Doc Chops 900 Seca build. There's a bunch on youtube as well, for ideas…good luck. I've thought of it but it still love the looks of the 900 Secas stock.
