Does any one know a good place to buy parts in Europe?
I run into troubles when’d I tried to buy a top end gasket because I can’t find a kit so they are trying to sell me piece by piece and with the cylinder head bolts and pistons rings they are asking me 400 euros and with 400 euros we can buy a engine on eBay.
    The bike is a ’81 XJ 650 4K0
    Thanks

    Magola.
Why not look for a source of gasket material and cut your own?

Perhaps we could order up a set for you here in the states and ship it over? I'm on the opposite coast so it be more expensive but possible. Anyone on the east coast want to lend a hand?

Rats. Well that was a short lived bright idea. Who do you order your goods from Faighaigh?
Magolo, Faighaigh's source might be a better option than what you have available. Check them out.

I have bought bits and pieces from several dealers and individuals in the US and Canada. Been happy with some but let down by others. Motogrid and Siruis spring to mind there, both sent parts that didn't fit. Motorgrid sent me 3 carb drain plugs but I ordered and paid for 4 they took 2 months to get here, oh yes and they were the wrong one's. As yet they have not got replied to my complaint. Sirius sent a petcock repair kit much of which does not fit but at least they answered my email though as yet no redress.

Oh I do enjoy a good moan in the morning.

On a happier note Oldbikebarn and Mrs Superdeals and Motorcyclepartsonly were good as was Steve Oakley with his carb drain plugs.

Magolo take a look at www.crc2onlinecatalog.com they sell a Complete Yamaha XJ650 Gasket set for $49.95 so that would be around 39.89 EUR. I have never done business with these guys but they have gotten excellent reviews from other members on the forum.

You may also want to try searching through some British motorcycle web sites on http://www.google.co.uk/. The Brits seem to ready love older bikes a lot. On the down side the pound seems to be the king of all currencies but on the up side the Queen’s mail is very fast.
    Hope this helps. Chris Sommer
