So what are the differences between the XJ bike line and the FJ bikes. Yamaha made them both for a few years overlapping and continued to make the FJ for many years after the XJs.

I always thought the FJ1100 was a cool bike. I might want to look into getting one. There is a nice 84 at our local yamaha dealer. Anyone out there in XJ land have one?

I have lusted after an FJ1200 for years. Sleek and long, just itching to wind out. I had a brush with an 1100 years back that some poor fellow had poured his life into. Polished the frame and everything. $1200 in 1994. I had to pass, regretfully. I'm sure I would have given it a very good home. Had another pass my way, 1200 this time and the guy left it sitting outside the barracks for 3 years! Wanted $1000 at a time I couldn't afford a pot to wiz in. Rats, some day my ship will come in... some day.

I rode an 84 FJ110 for maybe 8 years. Sold it to some kid from out of state and he smashed it before he got 3 miles from my house. :-(

I LOVED that bike and really wish I would never had sold it. I now have an 82 xj750 and really mis the power and ride of the FJ100. Two completely different bikes.

FJ are nice bikes, they fully tupperwared sport touring bikes and can chew up the miles. Very reliable and very good bikes. The only thing that it has against it vs the newer bikes is the brakes, weight and suspension. I like the motor in the old FJ's. Very nice..

The FJR 1300 has taken that to a whole new level, however...
