    The bottom one is actually an XS 400 J maxim. It's, as many have stated, half an xj engine. DOHC whereas the engine you posted above is a SOHC.
    Important distinction if you're looking for parts, apparently, though the issue is, I'm sure many are interchangeable. Was busy cleaning the tank yesterday and doing float levels so today is when I'll call Yamaha.
