You're going to have to give us a bit more info than that, bud. Year, model? Seca? Max? Have you tried a little heat and a Craftsman screw extractor since the caliper is toast otherwise anyway? You can run your part number in Yamaha's system; I'd do it for you but you didn't give us anything to go on...

    Hey Bigfitz.

Sorry about the vagueness. The truth is I havent got the papers yet! Long story, but I bought the bike for $100, not running... couldnt find the reg. papers at the time, so i brought her home anyways to start working on her. I suspect its an 83. its 400cc and maxim body style.

    Matches this body style

I will be drilling out the bolt, but if that fails catastrohpically, Ill be looking on EBAY.

Also, dont know why I didnt try Yamaha's site... I guess im just used to my GSXR, which has no real (listed) interchangable parts! Thanks!

edit: Where on the site do i find the fiches or whatever it may be ?

You can use the "real" Yamaha site but the diagrams are sometimes hard to read. I use these guys: http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/par ... fault.aspx plus they're right here in Michigan so I order OE stuff from them occasionally too. Use the section on the left to pull up the fiche for your bike; copy/paste the part number into the section on the right ("quick part lookup") and you'll get a list of everything Yamaha says it fits. You can click on the little "pic" icon and it takes you right to that page in that fiche.

    Hey phonex,
the 82/83 maxims are the same really, just different numbers on the frame/engine...
    12R for the 83 and 15G for the 82

Keep us up on your progress, they are fun bikes...

    ZaGhost,
what you just told me helps alot! The VIN is 9 digits starting with 12R... I spent about an hour trying to look it up, but any VIN lookups require the standard 12 digits... thanks, will keep you updated!
