I've been thinking about upgrading from my 1981 XJ650 Maxim to something bigger and have been scanning Craigslist and Ebay for XJ900's
and XJ1100's. I have yet to find either of these bikes for sale on both websites. I am leaning more toward the 1100 but cannot find any for sale.
Is the XJ1100 rare these days? Sure seems that way to me.
    Any advice on this bike?

That's an XS1100 in kit form mate.

The XJ1100's are pretty rare bunglejyme. Not many made to start with, so be patient and one will come up.
Try the www.xs11.com site for more info.

I now know you know.
If you go on .com you've probably seen some of my bikes. Here's one that made it into the 2012 calender

If you are dead set on a XJ1100. Your best time to be looking is either early spring (mid march through may) when the spring cleaning sales go on, or late fall (september through mid november) when the fall turn over is happening.

The spring sales usually carry a little higher price tag as the riding season is just starting. The best deals are usually gotten in the fall because the sellers do not want deal with having to store the bike for the winter.

I saw 6-8 XJ1100's in september when I looked. Including a nice, low mileage, full dress touring for $600. No money at the time
