What is the valve clearence for the XJ1100. I think they are suppose to be :
    Intake .006 to .008 (.160 to .200 mm)
    Exhaust .008 to .010 (.210 to .250mm)
    Am I right?
Mine are within these specs but there is still alot of valve ticking.
Here is what I measured today when the enging was cold
    Intake cylinder Exhaust
    .007 1 .008
    .007 2 .010
    .008 3 .010
    .006 4 .010
Any ideas for the loud valve ticking?

Hi Mark - Any issues with oil not getting up to the valves? I know you are very familiar with the "normal" ticking. That or a loose chain ticking are the only things I can think of....

Hi Bill, Oil is getting to the valves, I made the mistake of turning the engine over with the cover off and shot oil all over the bike. The cam chain is tight and the tensioner is adjusted properly. The bike runs well but the valvetrain is very noisy as compared to my XS1100.
