So my vin number when looked up online and when looked up for registration it comes up as an XS1100.
    Is that normal?

What is the actual VIN number on the decal (or stamped into the headpipe)?

10M is a 1982 XJ1100J. I think the YICS also confirms XJ not XS.

Sounds like the DMV data might be a little confused.

Almost all VIN decoding programs do not accurately decode anything made prior to 1983.
