just wanted to bump len and his business. today is the third purchase i've made from him and every time i email him, with one of my usual stupid questions, he answers quickly and gets me to understand what's going on. i've also learned a tremendous amount reading through his catalog and other guides. if you're new to working on bikes and not using him and his info as a resource...you're missing out. shipping is also as fast and cheap as it gets in my opinion.

 

Seconded!!! His knowledge is very good, and really helps if you accidentally choose the wrong parts, he is quick to point out the correct part #'s and what the differences are.

If yer new to sorting an out of production motorcycle then you really do not know how easy Len makes it with the XJs. There were no Lens about when I ran Britt bikes from the 60s & 70s after they went away.

Prices are fair, service is way above anyone that I have dealt with and things are shipped promptly....Really, what more can one ask for?

 

Totally agree and Im not even considering another source. He turned my catastrophe into no big deal and my knowledge of these bikes has doubled 4 times over because of his help, and that's what he does, he helps and that's the difference

 

Agreed. My local Yamaha shop is beyond useless when it comes to finding any of the parts for these bikes. Chacal on the other hand could not be more helpful and there is not yet a part I've asked about that he did not have in stock.

An upcoming change of address coupled with Canada Customs arbitrary holding times have conspired to prevent me from ordering anything that doesn't come from Canada. This has served to remind me just how valuable a resource Len really is. Few of the people from whom I have been seeking parts knows anything about my bike and really just seem bothered by having to special order things.

So for me, it boils down to this. I can deal with someone very knowledgable in 1980's Yamaha bikes who has helped improve my knowledge immensely with his articles and catalogue info, and financially supports this site which has also been an invaluable tool for me in my quest to get my bike in top running order. Or, I can support some jackazzes who tell everyone who will listen that they hate even ordering parts for old bikes, order counterfeit and substandard parts those few occasions that they do, and wouldn't know the difference anyways because they don't know a damned thing about your bike or what it needs. Seems a pretty easy choice even if he wasn't cheaper than all of said jackazzes, which he is (at least for ACTUAL brand name parts).

You will have to email or PM him for updated prices. In my experience they have generally increased by about 10% from the time he wrote that parts list.

If you own a XJ and you don't buy your parts from Len, you are I fear making a mistake. I looked for better pricing and I couldn't find it on NEW parts.
